Your safest approach would be to return the originally submitted 9 digit number in
2100C REF02 with a Q4 - Prior Identifier Number in REF01. See page 198 of the X092
Implementation Guide for more detail.

I have a question maybe someone can answer:
In the IG on page 21, paragraph 3, it states: "The information source is
also required to return any information supplied in the 270 request that
was used to determine the 271 response."
Does that mean if someone sends an inquiry using only the first 9 digits of
an 11 digit id (9 digits being enough to identify a family's coverage) can
we send back the full 11 digit id and still be compliant?
Is there somewhere we can get official answers to our questions?
