I've been following the threads re: this recent problem as it has impacted one of my co-workers in the loss of access to her email today -Heather Sammons . (Not necessarily a BAD thing on a Monday, but one that has required our IT server folks intervention.)
First, Michael's observation may be true for his email account. I have checked messages pre 6/21 and post 6/24 and when I click on Reply, it is set to reply to sender only. This may be unique to the various email software programs you may have, e.g. Groupwise vs. Lotus Notes. It will reply to [EMAIL PROTECTED] as that is the sender. Second, it we are unhappy about an individual's use of the listserv, I believe it is best to copy that email address and reply OUTSIDE of the listserv. Don't know about y'all, but I'd rather be told I'm dumb, stupid or made a boo-boo in private and not broadcast for the world to hear. Finally, if the listserv administrator could develop 'autoreply rules dump' that would also assist us. Different email programs may or may not have rules that discriminate and if the listserv can be our 'redundant back up that will be an extra value add. Thanks. Let's be polite out there! It could have been you...and not Heather or Erik. CBB Connie B. If I send a message to the list, I don't care if Joe Blow and Susie Sunshine are out of the office. Surely they can be filtered out. -----Original Message----- From: Fields, Michael [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, June 24, 2002 9:12 AM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: RE: Transactions Listserv Problem >From what I can tell, this out-of-office problem is due to a recent change in the way the transactions listserv sends the listserv messages. If I go back to messages sent to the listserv before noon on the 21st, if I click reply the reply message has the individual who sent the message as the recipient of the reply. On the other hand, all messages sent after noon, June 21st if you click reply the recipient is "[EMAIL PROTECTED]". There must have been a change made to the listserv on the 21st that is causing this behavior that should be reversed. There is NO NEED for anyone to change their out of office reply if this change is reversed, as all out-of-office messages should then only go to the original sender, not the entire listserv. __________________________________________ | Michael Fields | Utopian Software Concepts | [EMAIL PROTECTED] \__ This message, including files attached to it, may contain confidential information that is intended only for the use of the ADDRESSEE(S) named above. I do not feel that individuals that are on the list should use the "Out of Office" feature! I had over 150 "Out of the Office" messages having missed work on Friday. Maybe the transactions group needs to set up some limitations of the listserv?
