I'd like to announce that I'm pretty close to empty my
features-for-1.1.0 FIFO, so
branch transcode_1.1.0 is in sight at the horizon :)

I remember trying to get the PVM code to compile a long time back, and I
don't think I ever succeeded completely.  I agree that PVM should be
disabled for the moment; maybe change the configure script to output a
warning if --enable-pvm3 is given?

My plan on that is the following:
- make PVM support build again.
- let configure to a lot of noise remembering that PVM support is
unmantained/unused/unverified/can scare our {cat,dog} and stuff.
- clearly remark on docs the above stuff
- wait for obvious complaints from users :)
