Our requirement is to transfer DVD source material across to plain DV, with separate files being produced for each chapter/cell of each title. We don't need the video transcoded to any other form (the original YUV420P is fine).

Our platform is a G4/PPC Mac running OS X 10.5.8 Leopard with transcode installed courtesy of MacPorts.

Firstly, we have been successful in producing a DV file using the command:
root# transcode -i /path/to/a_single_file.vob -o path/to/a_new_file.dv -P 3

To attempt DV extraction for the complete disc, broken into chapters, we used:
root# transcode -i /dev/disk4 -U disk4dv -P 3

This fails - see 1.log attached.

Instead, we tried:
root# transcode -i /dev/disk4 -x dvd -U disk4dv -y dv

The transcode fails and we are unsure why. Attached is a copy of transcode's output (2.log).

On first impressions, it would appear that the mmx extensions are being erroneously invoked for ffmpeg (we are PPC/G4). We tried using the
--accel C switch to get past this but it has no effect.

We have also attempted to use different codecs but all of them produce the same result. Although pass-through is our preferred option, the requirement for DV itself is not essential - any non-compressed format will be acceptable. The main thing is that we can perform a full DVD extraction, unattended and with file-per-chapter result.

Is there something we are doing incorrectly or is it perhaps that Mac OS X/PPC is not really supported?

Thanks.
