Hi Chris,

Thank you for the offer,.. but I'm not familiar with Python code.. so I don't 
think that I will attempt using other code to mess up my Pootle installation.

So hopefully someone with a Pootle installation already has found a way to get 
the machine translation working again with Google API v2 or Apertium.

I don't know about plugging in to Poolte, but at Sugar Labs, we have a
supy-derived meeting-bot that acts as a cross-channel translator to
facilitate multilingual chat.  One of our devs ported it from Google
API to Apertium (at least for Spanish).  I don't know a lot of the
details, but I can ask if the code changes are in a repo somewhere.
