So true sir, the words of John here remind me of Israel, a generation perished in the wilderness bcoz they could not let go of some of the "delicacies" of Egypt; that is the good food, the security, certainty....thus they could not phantom or grab hold of the "new thing" that God was doing. They didn't realize tht God was making a highway in the desert just for them....So often I have had to remind myself that I cannot expect to receive the benefits of the kingdom and yet live as the world....It is hard, I have fallen short so many times...but I have known that you cannot expect to enjoy the benefits of Zimbabwean citizenship and yet not be living in Zimbabwe or unwilling to relinquish your former citizenship to another country...like I said I am far from the mark...Paul says I keep on trying to do good but I keep on missing it, but it is all about our hearts being in the right place...to be called a man after God's heart and yet be an adulterer, a swindler, a cheat and a murderer is a mystery...no wonder the word says that even angels have not understood the love God has for mankind regardless of his constant faults...it is a mystery...Paul says "to die is gain and to live is Christ"...that is how he viewed his life as dying unto himself and living for Christ...
