I'm considering an Open Source Expo. All except 1 non-techie I've met in the area cannot even say what Red Hat sell - and that 1 person is a prof at NCSU. The limiting factor on FOSS adoption is people don't even know what it is. Heck, I talked last month to a friend who has run a 'dows consulting company for 15 years and he'd never even heard of OpenOffice.org.
I'd be happy to brainstorm about how to make such an event happen. I can say alot of negative about softie but there is so much positive we need to show local business and people. Tim On 1/25/07, Tanner Lovelace <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Anyone have any thoughts about doing something like this locally? ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Ilan Rabinovitch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Jan 25, 2007 10:03 AM Subject: [linux-elitists] Vista Launch To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello, With the impending Vista launch, I was wondering if anyone is planning any concurrent marketing efforts for Linux and other open source platforms. I believe the current launch date for consumers is January 30th. At the very least it seems like a good opportunity to hit up the crowds at the "launch events" with free Ubuntu CDs. Does anyone have anything planned at this point?
