I have done everything that is suggested in the yahoo help section and  
checked the ports etc.. I am not the only one to have this issue with  
evolution unfortunately. I have a non paid yahoo account it officially gives  
me the reason to opt in to using pop - so this cannot be the problem  
either... switched to Thunderbird now., thanks for your help guys.
