Why on earth would you ditch Startpage for DuckDuckGo. First, Startpage/Ixquick are audited and certified via Europrise, an external body. Second they are based in Europe and owned by a European company, whereas DuckDuckGo are based in the United States and owned by a US company. Why is this important? Well you seem concerned about Prism, DuckDuckGo are just as vulnerable to NSA surveillance (including PRISM) as any other US company - the fact they DuckDuckGo state they don't log anything means absolutely nothing, they can be compelled by law to log your searches and be legally gagged from ever telling you.

Ditching Startpage for DuckDuckGo is completely backwards and makes no sense from a privacy perspective, whatsoever. You would rather take the word of a company with no external audits to verify their claims and in a position where they are vulnerable to state surveillance laws than the word of a company that has been externally audited and certified (in fact the first ever company to be certified by Europrise) and is completely immune to the US surveillance machine?

Please explain your logic?
