Unfortunately the state of freedom can change on these projects. So long as  
you can ensure that you are getting a purely free version then it is no real  
issue for installation instructions but that cannot be done here.

Personally I'm just saddened that Thunderbird is no longer free software but  
that just means we need to find alternative solutions.
