If i had to choose between a rich world of non-free *culture* (such as video game art) and a dry desert of free culture (which would probably be a consequence of the difficulties making cash out of artistic work), i'd choose the first one.

Non functional data doesn't have to be free, though it would be nice.
It's not taking away control over our lives. It's just limiting our options in creating own art, which is unfortunate.
