You can follow the "Emacs tutorial" that the Help menu proposes. It will  
teach you the basics in 2-3 hours. You will become far more productive in  
your computing... after a few weeks of brain adaptation (so that shortcuts  
become reflexes). And there is far more to discover than the basics!
