It looks to me like you're good. If you save something off the internet through your Abrowser, it will automatically go to /home/downloads unless you change the default settings.
If you plug in an external disk or flash drive, you should be able to see it in the right hand panel of your file manager, mount it with a click, and then drag and drop your pictures, videos, etc. to your home folder.
