Thanks guys I'm more clear about what's working now, and when I downloaded a  
few things I saw the /home free space going down rather than the tiny 20gb  
one. Also I was looking for help on drivers - I WAS going to go for NVIDIA  
and tried opening a .run file of the one I need (which is a GeForce 210) but  
now that I found there is a non proprietary one called Noevau or something,  
I'd like to go for that instead, can anyone help me setting that up?
