First I give an explanation that is suitable for the OP--a beginner. Then you claim my explanation to a beginner is 'not quite right' and 'correct' it by giving a technical definition. Then I give a link to the official source of such technical definitions. Now you say such definitions are not suitable for beginners. If they are not suitable for beginners, then why did you feel it important for the OP to know about it!? Anyway, I'm glad you now agree that my explanation to a beginner was in fact correct. This way I can make sure to explain it the same way to the next beginner.

Regarding t3g, I was taking his cue that it is important to give information for both Python 2 and Python 3. That is why I gave links for both versions.
