The libparted bug error shows up because you are running gparted on a live  
medium, I always get that message when I do that.

I don't know why there isn't enough space, maybe it is a strangely  
partitioned disk, but unless you provide more info I can only speculate.

Anyway, it's safe to click 'cancel' when the libparted bug message shows up.  
When you can use gparted like you normally would, just go to the T60's HDD  
and then make a new partition table in the menu 'device'.
