search something like "record system sound output" maybe ya can record just sound from a app. have a look at your input contorols in command line app alsamixer for cules. other cli apps to search for examples: amixer sox arecord
i prefer sox for audio recording cus if there is a crash you dont lose your rec. wheres audacity stores the rec somewhere tempory... i forget if saving project first in audacity protects you. Another benfet of sox is you can compress audio ready for sharing at the same time as recording. like directly into flac.
