Ok, so current patch is not enough. Any other idea how we can fix it? Really, really, it is annoying to see changing cursor every time when updating count of unread emails.
On the other hand, the cursor change does reflect the reality; Trojita indeed *is* working and waiting for some network replies at the time the cursor changes its shape.
I wonder where to draw a line. You seem to be unhappy with STATUS processing. Why? What is your expectation about the cursor change, what information should it convey? Would you prefer to see no cursor changes at all? Under what circumstances should it change?
And because I want to see that new email arrived ASAP, I have configured that update every 30 seconds. Which means every 30 seconds is cursor changed :-(
Just to make sure we understand each other -- this is about showing the numbers for other mailboxes besides the currently selected one. Updates to the current one are always shown in real-time if your server supports IDLE (GMail does, any FLOSS server which is decent enough to be still maintained also supports it AFAIK).
