Hi Rudi,

Great to know there is at least one other fellow Aussie on this list - I only
just said to my husband yesterday that there may be only a couple of TROMers in
the whole of Australia (as there seems to be so few in the WHOLE of the world)
- but now we know there are at least 3 Aussies - Yay!

We live down on the Murray River border in Albury (we were half an hours drive
from one of the Black Saturday fires),

Pru & Rob

Hi,

I was just reading this:

If you want to stop any game you are engaged in you only have to adopt the
complementary postulate to the one being held by your opponent, and the game
promptly ends. He too, of course, can end it by adopting the complementary
postulate to yours. You cannot force any being into a game who insists upon
adopting complementary postulates to your own.

And it reminded me of a very aggravating situation I was in about 10 days ago.
The CofS had been ringing us persistently for the past 18 months to buy the
whole new Basics Book package. We had told them over & over again that we were
definitely NOT going to buy the whole package in one go & that we would buy one
book at a time in our own time & interest. BUT they just kept ignoring our
reality & pushing it on us, averaging about 3 calls per week in that whole time!

There was no way I was going to adopt the CofS's complementary postulate which
would have been "to must know" (purchase the whole package NOW!). I kept
repeating my SD postulate of "mustn't be known". So finally I said "that's it
- enough is enough - I choose not to play this game (& that if you wish me to
hold even a tiny piece of esteem for the CofS you shall respect my right to do
so). And they have not rung since (my husband says they are just biding their
time & will start up again as soon as they think we have cooled off enough - ha
ha!).

Sooooo .... having a closer TROM look at this result I think my opponent (CofS
caller) decided to adopt a complementary postulate of "must be known" to my own
SD of "must not know" - so am I right to say that he was "overwhelmed" & had to
drop his own SD???

Fascinating fun,

Pru
p.s. still haven't even started Level 5 - been suffering a bit physically, &
thus also mentally!, from the record-breaking extreme heat of our Aussie
Summer. But as it is starting to cool down now I am getting back into it.

Pru Joy
Nice to hear from you again. I have been hearing of the terrible fires
burning down there. This is like the ones we get in the hills around Los
Angeles when the summer gets hot after several wet years have built up the
underbrush. Hope these have not affected you.

I see two possible reasons why the CoS gave up from the words you have
written.
One is the one you note that the caller was overwhelmed and gave up.
The second is contained in the phrase you stated "I choose not to play this
game" if you actually ceased to create the counter postulate to the CoS
postulate the game ceased to exist. They could yell "buy buy buy" all they
wanted but got no answering response from you - no opposing postulate- which
is a "no games" condition. It is the equivalent of finding that your phone
number was disconnected. They call but no one answers.

Which sounds right to you?

I find it hard to put in a session each day or even regularly because of all
the demands on my time. But I have all the Dennis audio mp3 on a player
that I can listen to while commuting. Also, I watch for the games that come
up in life and try to fit them into the pattern that Dennis presented in the
theory. So, even if I can't so the therapy I am studying the theory and
making it practical daily. It is apparent from your email that you are
doing this to and that is very good.

Keep on Tromming
