And, oh yes, I should also mention that when I was searching for online records
etc, I found a site that sounded promising. It is called
"AustraliaRecords.net". It allows you to type in the details of the person you
are trying to find but then leads you instantly to a page where you need to pay
a fee.

I thought it sounded really good but when you read the fine print you find that
their database is actually mainly for the U.S. & that other countries like
Australia & the U.K. are not so comprehensively covered. It is possible that
they are only accessing the phone book & electoral roll records so perhaps not
worth the fee at this point in time. I can just as easily do the leg & eye
work on those free records that are available.

Hi Ant

What a good suggestion - I just Googled that but there is only one online (&
hardcopy) residential phone book for Australia, which I have already searched.

HOWEVER ... I did find that the Australian Electoral Commission site offers a
free look-up of someone's known details - I entered Greg's as per Pete's last
known data - it came up as "not enrolled". But this only means that he is not
enrolled as per those address details. But it then advises me that I can
search the whole of the Electoral Roll on a computer in their actual local
office, which is just down the road from me. So I will certainly do that on
Monday. That shall be most interesting.

I did a bit of a Google search last night for P.I.s & found one which seemed to
offer just what we require so I emailed them to refine the request. Should
hear back Monday I think (it's currently Sunday morning here).
