It'd have the wrong feel to both do something and beep. Whether it should beep
or, without beeping, go as far as possible, is a debate which is yet to be had.
I, personally, tend to prefer backing up as far as possible, but not going
forward as far as possible. On the other hand, I hate inconsistency. Even I,
therefore, one who is usually highly opinionated, haven't yet gotten off the
fence on this one.

if you're getting a beep which is that loud, then you must have one of those
systems which pumps the beep through your sound card rather than through the
internal PC speaker. If so, try using the -s (speaker) option of aumix to make
it softer.
