The error message you're getting from TRPlayer is misleading because
it comes from RealPlayer and was therefore written for a Windows
system. What's actually happening is that TRPlayer doesn't have
permission to use the sound card while you're logged out. Under both
Red Hat Linux and Linux-Mandrake, when you're logged in on the
console, you own the audio devices among other things; but when you
log out, you no longer have access to them. So the easy fix for this
problem is to run your background tasks as root.
