Do you grasp it? It's about community. What is wrong with a person in the community who finds bugs, even if the bug is: "<x> is not documented". I'm sure you know how companies run projects, there's not just the coders but testers, requirements analysts, managers etc. You are quite happy to have some person who is a documentor, but you want to throw out testers. And nothing is for free, it's open-source. So contribute! 'newbie'? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure you're not getting Java newbies coming to the list to use Maven. You're getting Java experts without time to hunt through source code. ie) without time to contribute in anyway but through user testing.
