+1 (not that I have a vote!)

I am currently getting around to an integration test add-on to run the
longer integration type tests that will not be compulsory in order to create
the artifact. In fact my specific need is to create the artifact (an ejb)
which obviously must be deployed before I can fully test it

I mailed a week ago and it was suggested this NOT be a new plugin but a mod
to the existing one - and there is a massive overlap so it would seem
sensible

I may be a *purist* since I do believe that before a deliverable is built
you should have all the tests passing. Why are your test so slow? Maybe
they are not unit tests? I propose that maven ( or a plug-in ) handle
another ( maybe even more than one ) level of testing instead of a toggle
switch for unit tests.

The unit tests ( fast, independent ) would be hitched into java:jar as they
currently are. But some tests are more *integration* type tests
( slower with external dependencies ) that may be *not* be required to
run on each build. Currently my criteria for these types of tests are
speed and dependencies. Tests that require the database, other projects
deliverables in a reactor type environment, or sometimes even tests that
use the file system for data or processing are some examples.
