There is a book which looks at various frameworks
by Neal Ford called Art of Java Web Development.

I found a couple of sample chapters online the publishers siete I think.

it says that the author responds to readers questions - maybe you can
ask him too?

It covers
Struts
Tapestry
Commons
Velocity
Junit
Axis
Cocoon
InternetBeans
WebWork

I'm not sure if the Velocity stuff covers Turbine too - that's not one
of the samples chapters 

Might be worth a look.
