With forums it's like you have a few dozen related Google Groups one for Widgets, another for FastData, another for Installation, one for SQLObject, another for CherryPy, etc. Google Groups divides things up by thread, but that is not the same thing at all. With forums you also get sticky threads which always show up at the top of a particular topic. And posts in one topic can be moved into a more appropriate location whenever necessary. I personally prefer mailing lists, and newsgroups, especially since I can quickly and easily search the archives to find what I want. And because Forums require some ongoing moderation work, which I don't want any core TurboGears folks to have to do right now. But with all that said, I think it is important to know that there are actual reasons that some people prefer a forum interface. And as I said before, I think the primary reason is psychosocial -- people feel like they need to keep up with a mailing list, but they can participate in a forum with out reading every post. -- Mark Ramm-Christensen email: mark at compoundthinking dot com blog: www.compoundthinking.com/blog --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TurboGears" group.
