If I edited the settings file (with some random string for a name) under the $HOME/.kde/share/apps/kscreen directory and set the width and height values to what I want, it then behaves the next time I start vncserver. Very annoying that the Display and Monitor preference panel claims to accept the new resolution but ignores it. :-( Craig Ruff NCAR/CISL
