Python is long gone from my system. I only have Python 27. Somewhere a long the line, the uninstall of Python5 probably did not remove the Python5 from the PATH. I have no explanation as to why Python7 was not in the PATH. I have no idea why some remnant of why Python6 is hanging around. I uninstalled it long ago too.

I suggest you find out what applications are trying to run using Python 2.5. This is a Windows problem -- you need to get the list of programs that run at start up and inspect them for something that uses Python.

Since I don't use Windows, I can't be more specific.
