Yes, exiting with a value other than zero would be better in this case
(no dbus support or not pidgin running, which would be the same thing
from the script's pov, i guess).
However, if the script is intended to be run as a daemon, it would be
better to periodically check whether pidgin is running and notify the
user (with notify-send, for instance) when pidgin is started/stopped.
