You might get some good advice from this blog, which is written by the
brother of someone with whom I used to work:

Subject: [TV orNotTV] NotTV: Off Broadway Tips

I have had very good luck with advice I have received on various east
coast trips from this list, so I thought I would try again. Next week I
am going to Milwaukee and Chicago with my son to see a couple of
baseball games (this year we have tix to see the Cubs), and then I am
flying alone to New York for some family business, but also to see my
daughter. I have been to several Broadway shows in the past, but never
off-Broadway, and since I need to pay for her and her boyfriend, I
thought it might go easier on my wallet, and maybe a little fun, to see
an off-Broadway show. Does anyone know of one of these that has a little
buzz or heat to it? So far I have a list of potentials comprised of: "La
Fiesta del Chivo (The Feast of the Goat)"; "Way to Heaven (Himmelweg)"
and "The Temperamentals".

Sadly the Yankees will be out of town, but I may ride up there just to
look at the new Stadium. Also looking for a good place to eat in Haarlem
if anyone has any thoughts on that...
