Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin have both been on Leno. But remember Tina Fey has said at least twice now that one of her most nervous times on television was her first appearance on Letterman because it was so important she get it right. I've seen maybe eight of Leno's shows at 10 p.m., most after the first week, and they just don't seem to be clicking. The car race with confetti cannons is something like you'd see on a local talk show, not a prime time network show. I'm guessing they don't want to have Leno interviewing people because they want people to stick around and watch that on Conan. The problem for both of them is that interviews are not their strengths. Even newbie Craig Ferguson has picked up the technique for doing interesting interviews. The comedy just seems so forced. Like the other night they had on a female comic who introduced a skit about what it takes to be a model. Jay Leno said something about having never seen her naked and she replied no, he wasn't that kind of talk show host. It seemed like it was read off cue cards, even if it probably wasn't. Plus the show seems to run out of energy during the hour.
