Although this may surprise some of you tube-heads (read that as a term of endearment), many young people - from tweens to 20-somethings - know and/or revere the music of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. It is part of the fabric of popular culture, from classic rock stations to cable-TV retrospectives to the parents' album collections. "Exile" is often cited as one of the best Stones albums, if not the best. This re-release, with a bunch of previously unavailable songs, is no "Beatles Anthology," but it is significant in rock and roll circles. I may not like Fallon, and I may prefer listening to Phoenix or Goldfrapp than playing any Stones album since 1980, but I can always listen to "Exile" and thrill to it - and this re-release, the accompanying DVD, and Fallon's stunt have my attention.
