I was a kid in Pomona at the time of the LA Olympics, but my mom knew someone who had a small condo a few blocks from the beach in San Clemente, so we were there at the time of the Olympics. Bad time to be there. Every homeless person, hobo, drug dealer, hooker, etc. in Los Angeles was forcibly (and unconstitutionally) detained, shoved onto buses, and -- as the games went on -- housed in a makeshift tent prison set up on the San Clemente beaches, hidden from the view of the media and tourists brought into Los Angeles for the games. That said, I seriously doubt Wolper instigated that, though he surely took advantage of how clean and tidy the streets had suddenly become. Still, he did give us Willy Wonka... the good Gene Wilder version... not that crap Johnny Depp version. -- Kevin M. (RPCV) -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
