Unfortunately, the target audience doesn't want "real" News, or so they
believe.  Morning television seems to believe that the man of the house
gets into the car and leaves for work at 7:30 and that the women only want
household hints and celebrity gossip.  And even if you point out "Morning
Edition" to them, they'll say that most people are listening in the car.  I
wish that PBS' kids shows weren't so lucrative for them (not to mention the
only time of day with the possible exception of "Downton Abbey" that they
gets viewers under the age of 55--nay, 65), so that they might consider
getting into the morning TV news business.  But I guess the best to hope
for is a half-hour of BBC World News before "Arthur" and "WordGirl."
