The budget of the new show is probably bigger than the budget of the '70s
show by orders of magnitude. And the muppeteers have decades of experience
performing in different venues and ways that they had not in Henson's day.
As for using GGI, I assume that they do as the original show was shot in SD
for relatively small screens and the new one is in HD for large screens.
Even when the sticks and wires were visible on the old show they did not
distract as much. They would in the new show.
