Cutting and pasting: The pilot episode of the first Muppet Show was entitled "Sex and Violence." Among other sketches, it featured a short sequence wherein Ernie (dressed in drag) was dancing with Bert, trying to seduce him. It also included Muppet representations of the seven deadly sins. That was the first freakin' episode. (P.S.-That episode also included the first Swedish Chef cooking segment... with Japanese subtitles, thus making it one of the most surreal moments in TV history). A later episode even included Miss Piggy selling her soul to the devil (a.k.a. Alice Cooper). Referencing Miss Piggy's attempts to... um... mate with Kermit, Kermit sings a song with the lyric, "Bib and napkin, knife and fork, is the only way that I'll touch pork." Beaker flips off Mr. Scrooge in "Muppet Christmas Carol." I'm guessing one million moms didn't actually watch the original Muppet show. The Muppets have always had adult humor, even though aspects of them have been kid friendly. -- Kevin M. (RPCV) -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
