Making on air announcements about a much loved colleague getting fired for sexual impropriety is rapidly becoming a standard element in a female TV journalist’s tool kit.
The memo Guthrie read from Lack said they just received the detailed complaint Monday night; what it did not say is that NBC had to have known about this for a lot longer than that. This morning’s announcement about Lauer is one of the least surprising of the recent spree. There have been reports for weeks that there has been an investigation into this by some news organization (I think the NYT), and just over Thanksgiving chatter at my house there was a consensus that Lauer would be the next big name to drop.
