I don’t think it is much of a secret that Colbert is politically quite liberal, nor is this a recent development. I used to say as far back as his early days on TDS that he was easily the most liberal person appearing regularly on any mainstream television entertainment program. That said, there have been more than one Republican on his show, and I am not aware of any Republican member of Congress who has been refused as a guest. I took a quick gander at the guest list of every episode of the Late Show with Colbert as host - can’t promise this is an exhaustive list, and it is not limited to politicians (though I left off actors known to be Republican, but here is a list of prominent conservatives who have been guests on his show (several have been on multiple times, though I only list the date for one of their appearances):
