I think the bar here is simply does. He apologize for what he said? If he does, then he caved into Disney and he is done much more harm than good for the cause of freedom. But if he basically sticks to his original plan which was to clarify what he said, and distinguish it from the distortions and misinterpretations that were running wild on conservative media, perhaps adding an apology for not articulating his himself as clearly as he could have in light of the understandable, high feelings in the immediate aftermath of the violet death then I think this incident has the potential to be a milestone in the long, hard journey back from the dark Trump abyss.
