Hi Mohan,

If u have net connection then type apt-get --install gcc in superuser 
mode. If you want more interactive environment type synaptic 
in user mode and it will display all the available packages. Insert 
ur ubuntu CD in it and click the reload packages button. In the 
development menu u can see gcc which is not installed. Install it. Or 
u can search for gcc in synaptic search bar.
