Hi all: Joomla is an Open Source Content Management System (CMS) written in PHP and uses MySQL database.
Joomla includes features such as page caching to improve performance, RSS feeds, printable versions of pages, news flashes, blogs, polls, search and internationalization. The Joomla project has several working groups - Transalation, Development, Sites and Infrastructure, Documentation, that coordinate to create new features. Developer's who would like to contribute to Joomla, please take a look at the RoadMap document. http://dev.joomla.org/content/view/23/61/ It will be a good idea to create a Joomla ForumID. The current imperative is to stablize Joomla 1.5 and that means doing lots of testing and bug fixing. Please checkout the Tracker to see the bugs/feature request http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla/tracker/ Working on a bug will help the interested developer ramp up fast on the project. There are many interesting features planned for the future version. - New user and access control system - New javascript framework - Useability and Accessibility compliance - Full version control of content - Multi-Site capabilities - Update manager - Virtual Filesystem - Cross database support Please see the later-half of the page for complete details http://dev.joomla.org/content/view/23/61/ Hope the brief details will encourage PHP developers to dig in deeper. thanks Saifi.
