Yet another way: Get Supergrub (~ 5 MB) from http://supergrubdisk.org/
Boot with supergrub cd. Now you can directly boot a partition, or boot any installed os, fix grub, fix windows mbr (without a bootable windows cd) ~~~~~~~ It's a good idea to keep some livecds ready for those repair jobs.
