Yet another way:

Get Supergrub (~ 5 MB) from http://supergrubdisk.org/

Boot with supergrub cd. Now you can directly boot a partition, or boot
any installed os, fix grub, fix windows mbr (without a bootable
windows cd)

It's a good idea to keep some livecds ready for those repair jobs. My
collection:

Puppy Linux (to boot and access data, connect to internet etc)
Supergrub
Gparted livecd
RIP linux (Recovery is Possible)
Trinity restore kit
