Just wanted to point out this post on our status log: http://status.twitter.com/post/89846045/update-on-site-reliability-progress. Since the API touches pretty much of all our functionality, most of these updates are applicable.
The summary is basically that things should be more consistent and correct than they've been for the last couple weeks. Shortly, we should also be addressing the increased 503 (over capacity) errors that have been plaguing heavy API users. As you can imagine, we're seeing staggering growth at the moment, and operationalizing more capacity is one of our top priorities.
