Somebody willing to implement "non-supported" browser detection? We'd
like to have it in TYPO3 4.6:
the question is: which browser is not supported? Ok we know about IE6 bu
what about different FF versions...?
The idea is to start with a clean implementation of this for IE6
(obvious) and then discuss inclusion of other (old) browsers.
Maybe there is a different approach needed for different browser users.
If someone is still using IE6 (or other IE versions which are not
supported anymore) and is allowed to install something else it is
probably someone who has no idea how to get a different browser or a
newer version. It also almost certainly a Windows user.
In this case I would personally prefer to provide a link to the browser
select site which Microsoft was more or less forced to create [1]. It
has one-click-install packages for popular and less popular browsers for
Windows users.
For other browsers (non-IE) it is very likely that either the user has
installed a different browser in the past or the user is on non-Windows
system. These user are often more knowledgeable when it comes to
installing software. Maybe a link to the website of the browser they
currently use is enough to help them on their way to update the browser.
