Hi Pero, maybe, i tried news, and it has more features (and more extendable ones) than news. It has a better code quality, is better documented and well, it's the successor of tt_news.
The import of items is not a problem, news comes with an importer. Just the plugins need some love. The templates can be easily adjusted with FLUID!
