The macOS tools-only build does not include kwboot or gen_ethaddr_crc. Set HOST_TOOLS_ALL=y to include them in the build.
Tested on macOS 27.0.1 with HOST_TOOLS_ALL=y: fails on main at crc8.o and while linking kwboot, but passes with the macOS improvements series applied.
