Raining data has an interface with U2 and Microsoft Report Server. I have not used it, but it may make better use of the PICK facilities and you would not have to flatten files.
Microsoft Report Server is not a bad product allowing reports to be produced to html, pdf and other formats, xml driven formatting, scheduling and a number of other features. I you have to use UniQuery, at least convert the text reports to PDF and email them to the users.
