Why is this not what you expected? You have asked it to print a paginated list of record ids and you have quit out with an active select list. Sounds right to me.
Typing Q isn't going to exit the loop and hit your message. It terminates the program entirely. If you want to catch the Q yourself, you will have to do your own pagination control rather than using HEADING to enable automatic pagination.
