In the great digital era, we are witnessing many rapid scientific
and technological evelopments in human-centered, seamless computing
environments, interfaces, devices, and systems with applications
ranging from business and communication to entertainment and learning.
These developments are collectively best characterized as Active Media
Technology (AMT), a new area of information technology and computer
science that emphasizes the proactive, seamless roles of interfaces
and systems as well as new media in all aspects of digital life. The
first International Conference on Active Media Technology (AMT01) was
held in Hong Kong in 2001. In AMT-01, 8 renown scholars in the fields,
Prof. James L. Crowley, INRIA Rhone-Alpesn from France, Prof. John
Daugman from Cambridge University in UK, Prof. Toshio Fukuda from
Nagoya University in Japan, Prof. Toru Ishidsa from Kyoto University
in Japan, Prof. Takeo Kanade fron the Robotics Institute of Carnegie
Mellon University in USA, Prof. Oussama Khatib from Stanford
University in USA, Prof. Bruno Torresani from INRIA in France and
Prof. Victor Wickerhauser from Washington University in USA., were
invited to give talks. In addition, 93 researchers from 20 countries
and regions benefited from AMT-01.Following the success of AMT01, the
2003 International Conference on Active Media Technology (ICAMT2003)
will be held in Chongqing of P.R.China in May 29-31 of 2003. The
upcoming ICAMT2003 is aimed to provide an international forum for
researchers, from around the world, to exchange their latest research
results and to showcase the state of research and development in AMT
as well as the latest architectures, prototypes, tools, and fielded
systems that demonstrate and enable AMT. The topics of interest
include, but are not limited to: 1. Active Computer Systems and
Interfaces 2. Adaptive Web Media 3. Agent-Mediated Interaction and
Services 4. Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems 5. Digital City
6. Digital Interactivity 7. Embodied Intelligent Systems and Agents
8. Human-Centered Robotics 9. Multi-Agent Communities 10. Multi-Modal
Processing, Detection, Recognition, and Expression Analysis
11. Personalized, Pervasive Systems and Interfaces 12. Smart Digital
Media
