Hm, I don't really see why. :) To achieve the behavior above we could
define:

    regex: "search (+*) on (wikipedia|google) (in (+*)?)"

and then concat several regexes. But instead of using 3 variables
"name", "takes" and "modifiers" we would just need "regex". And we are
much more free in the command syntax, for instance we could allow
several inputs just seperated by commas. Or build a nice currency
converter taking "123 usd in eur":

    regex: "([0-9]+) ([a-z]{3}) in ([a-z]{3})"

Using regex comments [1] we could also define where selected text
("this") should go

    regex: "search (?#selection)(+*) on (wikipedia|google) (in (+*)?)"

In the current system we always need a verb, then a noun and further
nouns prefixed by a preposition. There are other languages which do
not work this way, so now we are stuck a bit to English.

Would regexes need big changes to the core code of Ubiquity? If not I
could try to implement them.

Cheers,
Georg
